Couhaib Driouech has successfully completed his Rangers medical but will not be immediately available to Derek McInnes due to a minor knock picked up during pre-season with PSV.
The Moroccan winger is closing in on his move to Ibrox, with Rangers expected to formally announce his arrival after the final stages of the transfer are completed.
Driouech travelled to the UK to undergo his medical and has now passed the examination after two days of tests, removing another major hurdle in Rangers' move for the PSV attacker.
However, there is a slight fitness concern surrounding the 24-year-old.
Driouech is carrying a small knock sustained during his time with PSV, meaning he will not be thrown straight into action for Rangers once the transfer is officially confirmed but should be available relatively soon.
That also rules him out of Thursday night's crucial Europa League clash with Jagiellonia Bialystok at Ibrox.
Even if Rangers complete the transfer and announce Driouech before kick-off, the winger would not be eligible to play, having missed the registration deadline for the fixture.
Driouech set for PSV farewell
Driouech is now expected to return to the Netherlands to say goodbye to PSV and their supporters before beginning his new chapter in Scotland.
The winger spoke to Soccernews before travelling and admitted he was excited about the prospect of joining Rangers.
“I am really looking forward to undergoing the medical,” Driouech said.
“I hope everything works out and that I get to put my signature on the dotted line.”
He also revealed that he had already heard positive things about Rangers' support and was looking forward to experiencing Ibrox.
“The Rangers fans? I've heard very good stories, so I'm looking forward to experiencing that in the stadium.”
Driouech was also keen to make sure he properly thanked the PSV supporters for their backing before leaving the club.
“A thank you to the fans? Certainly, but that will come later,” he said.
“First, I need to see if everything works out, and then I will say a proper goodbye to everyone.”
With his medical now successfully completed, that farewell is expected to take place.
McInnes already confirmed deal was advanced
The medical success comes just hours after Derek McInnes revealed that Rangers were “quite far down the line” with Driouech's transfer.
Asked about the winger during his press conference ahead of the Jagiellonia match, McInnes admitted the deal had gained significant momentum.
“I don't know exactly where he is right now,” the Rangers manager said.
“But I think for us, we've been linked with a lot of players. Obviously, that one's gained a bit of momentum and we are quite far down the line with that, but I don't know where it's at currently.
“As I say, once we know, we'll know.”
Rangers are understood to have agreed a deal with PSV worth around £7 million for Driouech, who is expected to become another major attacking addition to McInnes' squad.
His arrival will strengthen Rangers' options in the wide areas, although supporters will have to wait slightly longer to see him make his competitive debut.
For now, the immediate priority remains Jagiellonia, with Rangers needing to overturn their 2-1 first-leg deficit to progress in the Europa League.
