Rangers have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Couhaib Driouech by opening formal negotiations with PSV Eindhoven over a summer transfer.
According to respected Dutch outlet Voetbal International (VI), talks are now underway between the two clubs as Rangers look to agree a deal for the 24-year-old winger.
The report marks a significant development after Rangers were first credited with an interest in Driouech earlier this week, with discussions now said to have progressed into formal negotiations.
Rangers make opening proposal for winger
VI reports that both Rangers and PSV are aiming to reach an agreement, while Driouech himself is understood to be open to the move and has been offered a long-term contract at Ibrox.
The Moroccan winger was absent from PSV's Johan Cruyff Shield defeat to AZ last weekend, although head coach Peter Bosz attributed that omission to injury rather than transfer speculation.
Driouech joined PSV from Excelsior in 2024 for a fee of around €3.5 million but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Eindhoven.
Despite limited starts, he made a significant impact in Europe, scoring twice against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League before also finding the net against Napoli.
Those performances have attracted attention from across the continent.
Danny Rohl to battle Rangers for Driouech
Former Rangers head coach Danny Rohl, now in charge of RB Salzburg after leaving Ibrox earlier this summer, had also identified Driouech as a target.
However, VI claims Rangers have now moved ahead of the Austrian champions in the race for his signature after opening direct negotiations with PSV.
Derek McInnes has already overseen an extensive rebuild this summer with the arrivals of Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin, Vanja Dragojevic, Olwethu Makhanya and Daisuke Yokota. Lawrence Shankland, now club captain, was also recruited before McInnes joined him at the club from Hearts.
Even after securing Yokota's arrival from Hannover, Rangers have continued to explore options to strengthen their wide attacking positions before the transfer window closes.
The club have also been linked with Algerian winger Fares Ghedjemis, although Frosinone have rejected multiple bids and continue to value the 23-year-old significantly above Rangers' offers.
Attention now appears to have turned towards Driouech, with negotiations gathering momentum.
