Rangers have a new head coach in Danny Rohl with the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss being appointed this month after the overdue dismissal of Russell Martin post-Falkirk.
After a lengthy and well publicised protracted managerial search throughout the recent international break in which Rangers publicly chased and failed to appoint both ex-manager Steven Gerrard and ex-player Kevin Muscat, the 36-year-old German was appointed following a draw with Dundee United.
He has since added to his coaching staff with Sascha Lense and Matthias Kaltenbach being appointed as his assistants – with another to join him.
He has spoken of the need for an ex-player who understands the league and club to be part of his setup – with names such as ex-captains Lee Wallace and Steven Davis linked alongside Maurice Ross and Neil McCann for the role.
In terms of the playing squad things have settled down, with no incomings throughout October after a busy summer and some new faces in September.
However, Rangers have utilised the loan market to send some young players out to the lower leagues for first team experience.
18-year-old defender Arran Kerr has joined Scottish League 2 side Stirling Albion on a co-operation loan – which allows the player to move back and forth between parent and loan club – and means he is still eligible to feature for Stevie Smith’s youth squads.
Also leaving on loan is teenage winger Calum Burnside – who has joined Scottish League 1 side Alloa Athletic – also on a co-operation loan.
The 18-year-old Northern Irish youth international still trains at the Rangers Training Centre during the week and has even been invited by Rohl to take part in some first team sessions.
Leaving on traditional loan deals are the duo of defender Lyle Wark, 18, and forward Cormac Christie, 17, who have both headed to Angus to join Forfar Athletic on loan deals and will feature for Jim Weir’s side in Scottish League 2.
