Rangers have been confirmed to be in talks with Spanish La Liga side Griona over the signing for a former William Hill Premiership ace.

The Ibrox club have reportedly been in talks with Girona, part of the City Football Group, over a deal to bring former Aberdeen hero Bojan Miovski back to Scotland.

Rangers are looking for an initial loan deal but reports from Spain indicate that the White and Red’s are only willing to accept a permanent deal for the North Macedonian international, or a loan with an obligation to buy.

The Gers hierarchy are hoping for a loan deal with an option to buy the striker, who pas part of the 2023/24 PFA Scotland Team of the Year.

Negotiations are ongoing with some ground to be made up on both sides to meet in the middle.

Inside Ibrox reported earlier this summer that the striker’s representatives had been in touch with the Ibrox transfer gurus over a potential deal throughout the summer break.

Talks slowed but today’s reports indicate they have been reopened. After a poor first season in Catalonia, they are looking to offload the man they paid the Dons a reported £6.8m for after only 12 months on the continent. Aberdeen also have a sell on % for any future transfer of the striker, but it is unclear if this is on any sale or simply profit.

Miovski, now 26, scored 44 goals in 98 games for the Granite City side, but has managed only four in 23 since his big money move and a move to Ibrox, and to a familiar league could reignite his career after a year of relative inactivity.

It poses the question over the futures of Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers, both strikers linked with moves out of Scotland this summer, is Miovski being signed to compete with the duo and the incumbent Danilo, or as a replacement for one set to head out the door?
