Could this Ex-SPFL star be Rangers’ next no.9

With Danilo and Dessers facing uncertain futures, the former Aberdeen star suddenly looks like a serious option.

Here we go again. Another summer, another Rangers striker merry-go-round. Danilo’s being linked with a move to Spain. Cyriel Dessers? He’s had another great season on paper but he fails the eye test and as a sellable asset could also be moved on during our summer rebuild.

And let’s be honest, even if neither go, would anyone really be shocked to see a new No.9 brought in?

Step forward, Bojan Miovski.

The former Aberdeen frontman became one of the most consistent strikers in Scottish football during his spell with the Dons. Twenty-six goals in all competitions during his last season in the Granite City, including a few against us and Celtic.

He’s quick, strong, composed, clever in the box, and at just 25, his best years are still ahead of him.

Miovski has that blend of technique and movement that would thrive in a Russell Martin system, especially one built around possession, quick transitions, and players who don’t need five chances to score once.

And crucially, he’s proven in this league. There would be no dreaded ‘settling in period’ that we’ve seen countless times in recent years. No excuses about pace or physicality. He’s scored goals against the very teams we need to break down every week. Aberdeen might have played more counter-attacking football than we do when he was last in Scotland, but Miovski’s instincts in the final third are what set him apart.

His move to Girona hasn’t worked out, and with just four goals in 21 appearances across his full season in Spain they’re reportedly ready to let him go already.

The Spanish side reportedly want upwards of £7m for the Macedonian who they spent around £6.8m on last year.

If our new board are serious about backing Martin, we need a striker who fits his style and hits the ground running, this is the type of deal we should be doing.

Would he come? That’s another question. But don’t underestimate the pull of Ibrox, especially with a title to reclaim, European football on the table, and the chance to lead the line for one of the biggest clubs in Britain. Add onto that he has a history in the country and knows he can thrive here.

We’ve got the stage. Miovski has the tools. Make it happen.
