Rangers will look to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table this Saturday as they take on Steven Pressley’s Dundee side at Dens Park in their first away match following the recent three-week international break.

Derek McInnes’ team returned to Scottish Premiership action last week with a 3-1 win over Neil McCann’s Kilmarnock at Ibrox, with Ryan Naderi netting a double either side of a Kevin Kelsy goal to secure three points.

Despite the victory, the Gers were criticised for their second half performance and will want to prove they can sustain their levels against a tricky Dees squad tomorrow evening.

Team news

Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland remains injured for the match in the City of Discovery after a hamstring injury picked up against Motherwell at Ibrox.

“I’m getting there slowly; I got off the crutches this week. It’s been four weeks from my surgery, so things look good,” he said recently.

“I was back down to see the specialist to get feedback, and things are going in the right direction, so everything’s good. I’m healing well after the surgery. It was just a kind of check-up to make sure everything was where it was meant to be.

“You need to speak to the medical team for a better description, but as far as I’m aware, everything’s going in the right direction.”

Youssef Chermiti, Daisuke Yokota and Cammy Devlin are also all out. Teenage left-back Ashton Scally made his return from injury for the B team in their KDM Evolution Trophy loss to Peterhead midweek but is unlikely to feature on Saturday as Tuur Rommens makes his way back into matchday squads.

Dujon Sterling is a doubt after going off at half time against Kilmarnock with tonsilitis but could remain in the team.

For the hosts, Simon Murray remains sidelined long term with a cruciate ligament injury as does Fin Robertson.

Also doubtful are Bobby Wales, Ryan Finnigan and Joe Westley with various knocks.
