Rangers have had their busiest transfer window for years, signing 14 new first team players, as well as teenager James Reid for the youth team.

The club spent close to £30m, their highest outgoing expenditure since the revolution under Dick Advocaat in 1998.

The club really kicked into gear in the final month of the window, completing six deals, including two on deadline day. Russell Martin, Kevin Thelwell and the recruitment team also managed to ship out a number of out-of-favour fringe players as well as bringing in some big transfer fees for some stars of last season.

Let’s go over all of Rangers’ business for August 2025:

In

Mikey Moore – The teenager was signed on the first day of August but did not make his debut until the Premier Sports Cup match against Alloa on the 29th after he turned 18 and was granted international clearance following his loan from Spurs.

Pacey, tricky and full of energy the winger will provide a spark of genius and adds an unknown quantity to the Rangers attack.

Still raw, he will be looking at a decent amount of first team action, but will also have plenty of support from other wide options.

Oliver Antman – A versatile winger who arrives from Dutch Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles, Antman adds pace and directness to the wide areas.

Nicknamed ‘the assist king’ he is still only 24, he already has senior international experience with Finland and is viewed as a player who can make an instant impact.

He had an excellent debut against Viktoria Plzen but has struggled a bit since, hopefully he can find his form again and help spur the team on to an improvement post international break.

Jayden Meghoma – Snapped up from English Premier League side Brentford on loan, the 19-year-old left-back is seen as one for the future at the Bees but will provide depth this season at Ibrox after the departure of all three of Rangers left backs from last term.

Quick, adventurous and technically sound, Meghoma is the only natural left back at the club and will compete with right backs Max Aarons and Dujon Sterling for the position this year.

Bojan Miovski – Rangers finally got their man after weeks of speculation, striking a deal with Girona for the prolific North Macedonian striker.

Miovski hit over 20 goals for Aberdeen two years ago before his move to Spain and is tipped to become the focal point of Martin’s attack after a decent Ibrox debut against Celtic last Sunday.

Youssef Chermiti – Signed from Everton for £8m, potentially rising to £11m, the Portuguese forward gives Rangers a different option up front.

Strong, powerful and still just 21, Chermiti will provide competition for Miovski and Danilo across a demanding campaign but will be expected to impress early due to the price tag that makes him the club’s second largest ever signing.

Without a first team goal in two years, it is a big gamble for Rangers to take, but one they feel will pay off. Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell is a big fan of the striker, having signed him for Everton during his time at the Toffees.

Derek Cornelius – The Canadian international defender joined from French club Marseille and offers a left-footed balance to the backline following Ben Davies’ exit.

Tall, composed and experienced in European competition, Cornelius is expected to be a regular starter alongside Nasser Djiga.

Ross McCausland – Once highly thought of as a youngster, the Northern Irish international struggled after his initial breakthrough at Ibrox and has moved on loan to Cypriot side Aris Limassol where he will link up with ex-teammates Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun.

Pacey and direct, McCausland has his talents but just has not quite made the breakthrough at Ibrox and will hope a successful season in Cyprus will either see the club take up their option on him or earn him a new move next summer.

Robbie Fraser – The young full-back moved on to seek first-team football, having struggled to break into the side despite some decent cameo appearances.

He joined Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline Athletic on a permanent deal and will look to establish a first team career for himself within Scottish football.

Jefte – The Brazilian was only signed last summer from Fluminense after an impressive loan spell at Cypriot club APOEL. Initially a target for January 2024, Rangers were forced to wait till the end of the season to secure his signature.

After a mixed first, and only, season in Scotland, the defender was dropped by Martin for loanee right back Aarons for the first few matches of his regime. He returned to the starting lineup against Dundee in August but failed to impress and was quickly sold to Palmeiras when the Brazilian side made a £6m bid to take him back to his homeland.

Jose Cifuentes – The Ecuadorian midfielder never fully settled at Ibrox due to personal issues and an inability to acclimatise to the Scottish weather after moving from Los Angelas. He has been loaned out since January 2024 and will return to the MLS with Canadian side Toronto for this season, with an option to buy included.

Ben Davies – With Cornelius arriving, Davies was allowed to depart. Despite possession desirable attributes and a decent pedigree, the former Liverpool defender never fully convinced the support, and the club opted to move him on. He will see out the last year of his Ibrox deal with EFL Championship side Oxford United.

Ridvan Yilmaz – An offer from former club Besiktas saw the Turkish full-back return home, freeing up space for Meghoma to come in as a replacement.

Always tipped to breakthrough at Rangers, the diminutive full back could never make the left back slot his own, due to a mixture of inconsistent form and injury issues during his three-year stint in the Southside.

Josh Gentles & Calum Adamson – Two academy prospects moved on loan, with Gentles joining Raith Rovers and Adamson heading to Alloa Athletic, two clubs Rangers have co-operation agreements with. Both remain eligible to play for Rangers due to the new ruling, with Gentles included in the Europa League squad yesterday.

Hamza Igamane – The Moroccan striker, signed only last summer, moved to French club Lille after a protracted summer chase from the Ligue 1 side.

He had an impressive season at Ibrox, showing skill, pace and a composed finishing ability, with goals against Nice, a hat-trick against Hibs and a Parkhead winner the highlights but after refusing to come on against St Mirren during the club’s 1-1 draw in Paisley the move was forced through. The French club paying Rangers a fee of £10.4m.

Oscar Cortes – Injuries derailed his Rangers career before it ever really began, and the winger’s loan exit is another frustrating chapter in his Rangers story.

Signed on loan in January 2024, the Colombian wide man impressed early on but an injury ended his initial six-month loan spell in Scotland prematurely. The Gers chased another loan but eventually had to settle for a loan which included an obligation to buy to return him to Ibrox last campaign.

Another year of injury seen him already out of the picture by the time his £4.5m was made permanent this summer, and a loan to Spanish Segunda Division side was completed on deadline day. It remains to be seen if he can return to form and carve out an Ibrox career upon his return or go down as a colossal waste of money.

Cyriel Dessers – Another high-profile departure. Despite a decent goal return over his two seasons at Ibrox Dessers never truly convinced the Rangers support. Inconsistency and frustration were the main reasons for this.

The Nigerians mentality and work rate was never questioned, and he averaged a goal every two and a bit games, but was often missing or misfiring in the bigger moments.

The arrivals of Miovski and Chermiti sealed his fate, and the Nigerian was sold before the window shut to Greek side Panathinaikos, going with the best wishes of all at Ibrox.
