Rangers managed to hold on to Belgian international midfielder Nicolas Raskin despite being linked with a deadline day move away from Ibrox.
The feisty Flemish star was set to leave Ibrox due to a reported fallout with Ibrox head coach Russell Martin following Rangers 6-0 loss away to Club Brugge in his homeland, with his father posting scathing comments about Martin on social media.
Raskin was dropped from the squad that drew 0-0 with Celtic at Ibrox in the season’s first Old Firm derby but has chosen to stay at Ibrox and look to rebuild his relationship with the under fire boss.
Rangers did lose some stars from last season, with strikers Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers both leaving Scotland for big money moves abroad. But one other star was subject of a last minute enquiry in the final hours of the transfer window.
Connor Barton, signed last summer from Aberdeen, impressed in Sunday’s derby draw, being the surprise starter in place of the bombed out Belgian.
Italian Serie A club Bologna had scouts watching the match, keeping tabs on the diminutive Scottish international, who they have been a fan of since his days in the Granite City.
With the window drawing to a close the Italians, who currently have another former Aberdeen midfielder in Lewis Ferguson, nephew of ex-Ibrox interim boss and captain Barry, starring in their midfield.
A phone call was made, but with the window drawing to a close, Rangers rejected the Italian side’s advances as it would have left the club little-to-no time to sign a replacement for Barron.

As mentioned, the Serie A club have been fans of Barron’s since his days with the Dons, and have not given up on securing his signature, the club are planning another move for him in January, with Ferguson linked with a move to Juventus, they see Barron as a natural replacement for him should he depart.
