Rangers have reportedly informed five first team players they can depart the club this January transfer window.

Just two days into the new year the club have kicked into gear in their attempts to trim their bloated, and underperforming squad.

Danny Rohl has told defender Clinton Nsiala, who was previously told he could leave under previous boss Russell Martin, that he should look for a new club this window.

Midfielders Kieran Dowell and Nedim Bajrami have also been told they are available for transfer and not in the German head coaches long term plans - despite the latter scoring against Dundee United and showing some decent form prior to an injury sustained in the Gers win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last month.

Dowell has interest from England with Championship side Hull City interested in taking the 28-year-old on loan for the final few months of his contract.

Forwards Rabbi Matondo, yet to feature this season and without a first team appearance since last January, and Danilo have both also been told they can leave the club.

The Brazilian has had a stop start career at Ibrox and despite a return to the starting lineup earlier in the season now finds himself behind summer signings Yousef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski in the pecking order for the lone striking position at Ibrox.

Rangers have recalled Welsh youth forward Josh Gentles from his loan at Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers due to a lack of game time with Dougie Imrie’s side, but he is expected to head out on a temporary deal again and will not displace Danilo in the first team squad, with the Gers looking at bringing in a new forward to replace to former Feyenoord man.

Summer signing Lyall Cameron has also been told he can leave the club on loan this month - the 23 year old has struggled for minutes since his arrival from Dundee and despite the Dens Park side and Rangers awaiting to decision of a tribunal over a transfer fee for the player, he could return to the City of Discovery and join Dundee United on a loan deal this month.

Rangers may also allow winger Findlay Curtis to leave on loan this month, but this is not being pushed by the club despite initial interest from both Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline Athletic and Premiership rivals Kilmarnock.
