Rangers have had a woeful start to the season, with three successive one all draws to kick off league duty.

A European drubbing to Club Brugge in the first leg on their UEFA Champions League playoff tie merely emphasised the frustrations.

Hamza Igamane has been banished ahead of a departure to French Ligue 1 club Lille, after refusing to come on as a substitute during Sunday’s draw away to St Mirren.

Rangers also did not bring on Kieran Dowell in Paisley, despite the midfielder being stripped and ready to go.

It has since emerged that the former Everton and Norwich City midfielder has picked up a serious foot injury and looks set for an extended period on the sidelines.

He did not travel with the main squad today as they headed to Belgium for the crunch second leg against Brugge and was spotted wearing a moon boot.

Dowell has struggled to impress since his return to the first team this summer, and has become the antithesis of the failing Martin regime for a large portion of the Gers support.

With a £10.5m bid accepted for Igamane, and Dowell injured, more recruits are needed across the park, and soon with Celtic looming on Sunday in the season’s first old firm clash, which already is a win or bust for the new head coach.
