Nedim Bajrami says Rangers must turn improved attacking play into clinical finishing after his 98th-minute penalty rescued a point against Dundee United at Tannadice.

The Albanian midfielder, who stepped up in the absence of James Tavernier, who had been subbed off, spoke of responsibility, resilience, and rediscovering confidence after a difficult spell on the sidelines.

Bajrami didn’t hide from the reality of Rangers wastefulness in front of goal, but praised the determination shown in forcing a late equaliser.

He said: “I think we showed character tonight - we had a lot of chances but we need to score these chances.

“At the end, I took responsibility and I’m happy to be back with the team and to score.”

The midfielder made clear that the only acceptable response now is to move forward with intent.

“We have a lot of games now, so we need to look forward and win these games,” he explained.

With Tavernier off the pitch, Bajrami assumed penalty duties with confidence.

“Obviously Tav was not on the pitch, but I think I have enough experience to take this penalty.

“I was happy to score to help the team.”

The pressure of a near 100th-minute equaliser did not faze him, especially given what he described as a challenging personal spell.

He explained: “In the last three months, I have had a difficult period here, but I always trained well and waited for this chance.

“I’m happy to score.”

Bajrami reflected positively on being involved again after limited minutes earlier in the season.

He said: “I’m happy to be back, happy to help the team.

“We need to stick all together and improve the last step in front of goal to score these goals.”

Despite disappointment at dropped points, he highlighted the significant uptick in Rangers attacking production: “We watched the video from the last game and today we played better, we created more chances.

“It’s the last step that we need to improve now.”

With another away match looming at Rugby Park this Saturday, Bajrami stressed the need to maintain momentum while sharpening decision-making in key moments.

He said: “Tomorrow we need to watch the game, what we can do better.

“On Saturday - Kilmarnock away - we need to create more chances again and to score.”

Rangers will hope that Bajrami’s composure from the spot and re-emergence in the squad can help drive the consistency Head Coach Danny Röhl demands.
