Genclerbirligi have placed Rangers striker Bojan Miovski on their shortlist as the Turkish club considers options ahead of the transfer deadline.
Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun reports that Miovski is one of three forwards being considered, alongside Udinese’s Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Basaksehir’s Nuno Da Costa.
Miovski’s position at Ibrox has become increasingly uncertain following Rangers’ imminent arrival of Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers. Rangers have agreed a deal worth around £9.5m for the Venezuelan striker, with the move coming after Youssef Chermiti suffered a serious ACL injury.
Despite Chermiti’s absence, Miovski is now expected to leave Rangers, with Kelsy’s arrival set to further reduce his opportunities.
Miovski falls down Ibrox pecking order
The North Macedonian striker is understood to have fallen behind Lawrence Shankland and Ryan Naderi in the pecking order, while Kelsy’s arrival will provide Derek McInnes with another senior option in attack. Shankland has already replaced Naderi at the head of the Rangers attack in recent team selections, with Miovski left out of the squad.
The striker did not make the matchday squad for Sunday’s win over his former club Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
Miovski joined Rangers from Girona in 2025 and has scored seven league goals for the club.
A loan move with an option to buy is currently viewed as the likeliest structure for Miovski’s departure, giving the 27-year-old the opportunity to secure regular football, with a good spell away leaving the door open for Rangers to recoup their outlay on the forward.
Calls for Miovski to be included
Macedonian journalist Filip Mishov earlier questioned McInnes' decision not to use Miovski more regularly, particularly following the injury suffered by Chermiti against Hibernian.
Mishov suggested that Miovski's lack of involvement could become significant with the transfer window now approaching its final stages.
"If any of the mentioned forwards were playing in a free-firing form then his omission would have been understandable, but that's not the case which makes Derek McInnes' decision even more baffling," he wrote.
The journalist also questioned why McInnes has not experimented with a Shankland-Miovski partnership, arguing that it could provide Rangers with an alternative attacking option.
Former Celtic striker linked as alternative
One of Genclerbirligi’s alternatives is, as mentioned, Bayo, who will be familiar to Scottish football supporters having previously played for Celtic before spells elsewhere in Europe.
With the Turkish transfer window approaching its deadline, Miovski’s future at Ibrox now looks increasingly likely to be resolved before the window closes this week.
