Derek McInnes has provided an insight into Rangers' transfer plans after being questioned about reported interest in Girona winger Kim Min Su.
The 20-year-old South Korean has emerged as a target for Rangers in recent days, with reports in Spain claiming the Ibrox club are pushing strongly to secure his signature. Kim has a reported €10 million release clause, while he also has interest from elsewhere in Europe.
Kim spent last season on loan at FC Andorra in Spain's second tier, making 40 appearances and contributing to 10 goals. Girona have since registered him with their first-team squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
McInnes, however, did not directly confirm Rangers' interest in Kim when asked about the reported deal.
Instead, the Rangers manager outlined the club's wider search for attacking reinforcements following the 1-0 victory over Jablonec.
“I'll pick up with that straight after the game with everybody involved,” he said when asked directly about Min-Su.
“We are trying in a few different areas to get the right players in, but it's players with the right quality.”
McInnes reveals Rangers transfer plans
The Rangers boss suggested the club are being presented with a significant number of potential players but stressed that the recruitment team are remaining selective.
“We're getting loads of players put to us, we've been really concentrated and focused on certain ones.”
That would appear particularly relevant to Rangers' pursuit of attacking players, with McInnes making no secret of his desire to add more pace and creativity to his squad.
Rangers have already been linked with several wide attacking options this summer, including Kim, while reports have also suggested interest in Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry.
McInnes is hopeful that Rangers can make another addition shortly.
“I'm quite hopeful we can do one in the next few days and we're working extremely hard,” he revealed.
‘Pace and quality’ wanted at Rangers
McInnes believes adding another attacking player could significantly improve his side.
“I do think that having that extra level of pace and quality and invention at the top end of the pitch is going to be massive for our team,” he explained.
Rangers' need for attacking reinforcements has become even more pronounced following the serious injury suffered by Youssef Chermiti, while McInnes has continued to emphasise the need for greater attacking variety.
The manager believes the right addition could help Rangers continue their recent improvement.
“If we can get that I'm pretty confident we can keep getting improvements for the team.”
Kim Min Su remains one to watch
Reports from Spain have indicated that Rangers are pushing strongly to sign Kim, with Girona understood to have a €10 million clause attached to the winger's contract and are unwilling to accept offers of any less.
However, the player's situation is not yet straightforward. Recent reports suggest Kim is considering whether to leave Girona or remain with the Spanish club and potentially agree a new contract.
McInnes' comments therefore offer no confirmation that a deal for Kim is imminent, but they do reinforce Rangers' determination to add another attacking option before the window closes.
