Nedim Bajrami could be handed a fresh opportunity under new Al Taawoun manager Vuk Rasovic as the Rangers loanee looks to rediscover his best form in Saudi Arabia.

Bajrami joined Al Taawoun from Rangers in August but has yet to produce his best in midfield, according to the Saudi Pro League’s offical news website.

Rasovic's arrival could now give the Albanian international a clean slate. The Serbian replaced his compatriot Zarko Lazetic during the international break after Al Taawoun's miserable start to the season left them winless after seven matches.

Their problems continued in Rasovic's first game, with Al Taawoun beaten 3-0 by Al Shabab.

But the new boss brings a proven record in Saudi Arabia, having previously managed Al Faisaly and Al Fayha.

His biggest success came at Al Fayha, where he guided the club to the 2022 King's Cup, defeating Al Hilal on penalties, before leading them into the AFC Champions League last 16.

Bajrami could fit new boss' style

Rasovic is known for demanding defensive organisation, discipline and work rate, while also favouring a counter-attacking approach.

That could create an important role for Bajrami. The Rangers loanee offers technical quality and attacking creativity, attributes that could become particularly valuable when Al Taawoun look to transition quickly from defence into attack.

Rasovic has previously stressed the importance of players understanding their roles and positioning, while insisting that hard work and attitude are key criteria when selecting his team.

Bajrami will therefore have a clear opportunity to prove he can become a central figure in the new manager's plans.

Rangers hopeful of recouping Bajrami fee

The midfielder arrived at Rangers with a reputation for creativity from his time with Sassuolo but never consistently produced his best form at Ibrox.

His loan move to Al Taawoun was designed to give him regular football and a chance to rebuild his confidence and help Derek McInnes’ side recoup some of the outlay used to sign him under Phillipe Clement.

Rasovic's appointment gives him another opportunity to make his mark. Al Taawoun are currently second bottom of the Saudi Pro League and have scored just three goals in their opening eight matches.
