Former Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo has emerged as an option for Norwich City as Philippe Clement looks to strengthen his squad following a long-term injury.
According to transfer reporter Pete O'Rourke, Matondo is being considered by Norwich as they search for a replacement for Ali Ahmed, who is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
The potential move would create an interesting reunion between Matondo and Clement, who is now in charge at Carrow Road.
Clement previously blocked Matondo exit
The winger came close to joining Norwich in the summer of 2024, but the proposed move was ultimately blocked by Clement, who was Rangers manager at the time.
Clement wanted to retain Matondo at Ibrox and prevented the winger from leaving the club after strong early season form for the Gers that year before yet another Ibrox injury for the wide man.
The decision did not ultimately lead to Matondo becoming a long-term fixture under the Belgian, however, with the Welsh international's Rangers career eventually coming to an end under Danny Rohl in March this year.
Now, with Clement himself in the Norwich dugout, Matondo has re-emerged as a potential target.
Norwich searching for attacking replacement
Norwich are assessing their options after Ahmed suffered a long-term injury, leaving the Championship club looking for additional attacking depth ahead of the start of their season.
Matondo's pace and ability to operate in wide areas could make him an attractive option, he is also available on a free after departing Brann this summer following his short term deal expiring in Norway.
The former Manchester City winger spent several seasons at Rangers after joining from Schalke, but struggled to establish himself consistently at Ibrox.
His time in Glasgow was affected by injuries and inconsistent form, although his explosive pace remained one of his most obvious qualities.
A move to Norwich would therefore give Matondo another opportunity to establish himself in English football while potentially working again with the manager who previously decided he should remain at Rangers.
