Nedim Bajrami has suffered a setback at Al-Taawoun after the Saudi club's request to register the Rangers midfielder for their AFC Champions League Two squad was rejected.
Bajrami joined Al-Taawoun on loan from Rangers earlier this summer and was expected to be available for their continental campaign.
However, the club's attempt to include the Albania international on their squad list has been rejected by the Financial Sustainability Committee.
Al-Taawoun qualified for Asia's second-tier club competition after finishing sixth in the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League.
The decision means Bajrami's involvement in the competition is now in doubt, despite the midfielder already completing his move to Saudi Arabia from Ibrox.

The issue is understood to relate to the financial sustainability regulations governing Saudi clubs.
Al-Taawoun are among the sides operating under stricter financial conditions, with their spending and registration activity subject to greater scrutiny.
That has now impacted Bajrami, with the club unable to secure approval for his inclusion in their AFC Champions League Two squad.
