Rangers Mikey Moore says he is “really enjoying” his football under Danny Röhl after scoring his first goal for the club in today's 3-0 win over Dundee – a performance that also earned the 18-year-old the Man of the Match award.
Moore, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, has grown into a key figure in Röhl’s side in recent weeks, and his composed finish at Dens Park marked another significant step in his development.
The winger was quick to express his delight at finally getting off the mark in Rangers colours.
“It was an enjoyable game,” he said.
“Winning and getting a goal and nearly getting another one but I’m happy with the one. It was a good one to play in.”
The goal came early in the first half, with Moore staying alert just outside the box to shift the ball away from a defender before firing low past Jon McCracken.
“We played a few nice passes and then the ball just dropped,” he explained.
“I took it away from the defender and shot as quick as I could. I was happy that I was in front of goal, it was a good finish.”
Moore thought he had doubled his tally shortly after, only to see a second strike ruled out following a VAR check, a decision that left him understandably frustrated.
“When I scored, I said to the boys, I think I’m offside,” he admitted.
“But I don’t think I was. It was something in the build-up.
“It’s frustrating, but I’m happy with the way the game went.”
The 3-0 victory marked Rangers’ third consecutive league win, with Moore crediting Röhl for the improved mood and momentum around the squad.
He said: “It’s been a good experience playing under him and It’s been very positive.
“Even though some results haven’t gone our way, the boys have been together and there’s been a lot more positivity in the group.
“I think all the boys are happy at the minute.”
Moore also stressed the importance of Rangers’ fast start at Dens Park, something the team had been working to improve.
“In these games you have to start quick,” he said.
“There’s been too many times this season where we haven’t.
“Today we scored twice early and that gives you control. In the second half we still could have had a bit more control, and that’s something to work on.”
The teenager will now join up with England youth duty during the international break before returning to continue what has been a steadily growing influence in the Rangers attack.
“When we get back, it’s just about carrying on,” he added.
“In all competitions we need to pick up points and keep building.”
