Rangers are reportedly circling Roma’s Anass Salah-Eddine as Russell Martin looks to bolster his left-back options.

The 23-year-old was on Ibrox’s radar last summer before opting for a permanent move to Twente, but now with Ridvan Yilmaz seemingly set to follow Palmeries bound Jefte and Robbie Fraser out the door, Rangers could be back in the hunt.

Jefte is reportedly close to a £6million return to Palmeries, with Yilmaz linked with a return to Besitkas, while Fraser has joined Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline Athletic.

Jayden Meghoma has arrived on loan from Brentford, but Martin appears keen to add further depth to the left hand side of his defence.

Italian reports suggest Rangers are among the clubs ready to contact Roma about Salah-Eddine, who joined the Serie A side in January for €8.5m plus potential add-ons.

The left-back has struggled to impress new coach Gian Piero Gasperini this pre-season and has reportedly been told to find a new club before the window shuts.

Roma are said to want guarantees on any deal, preferring a permanent transfer or a loan with an option to buy.

Yet earlier this summer, Salah-Eddine’s agent insisted he was motivated to stay and fight for his place.

For Rangers fans, this could be a chance to snap up a Serie A-quality left-back and inject real competition at Ibrox ahead of another packed season.

Rangers have also been linked with former Hibernian full back Josh Doig from Sassuolo, also of Serie A and missed out of Liverpool defender Owen Beck earlier in the window, showing the club are actively chasing a left sided full back.
