Former Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi is currently training with Farul Constanța, the Romanian club owned by his father, as he looks to secure a new contract following a failed attempt to return to Rangers this summer from his agent.

Farul’s coach, Ianis Zicu, offered insight into Hagi’s mindset and work ethic during this transitional period.

Speaking to Spotmedia he said: "We hope he will find a team soon and simply enjoy playing football again, because that’s what he wants.

“When he has the time, he comes to train with us. I see him every day, and he looks sharp and committed in every session.

“He runs hard, shows great enthusiasm, and enjoys playing the game.

“Beyond that, he helps others in training by setting an example, showing how you should approach your work whether you have a club or not."

Hagi left Ibrox in June after five and a half years with Rangers.

During his tenure, he was part of the historic squad that secured Rangers’ 55th league title in the 2020-21 season and played a key role in the side that reached the 2022 Europa League final.

However, injuries and a loan spell disrupted his momentum in the later stages of his Rangers career.

An early injury in the 2022 Scottish Cup campaign ruled him out of the final against Hearts and the latter stages of the Europa League run, sidelining him at a crucial time.

Subsequent challenges, including a loan move to Spain and contract disputes, saw his involvement with the first team dwindle.

He had a slight comeback last season but like the rest of the squad his performances and impact dropped off massively after New Year.

In recent months, Hagi’s representatives approached Rangers to explore the possibility of the Romanian midfielder returning to train with the squad at St. George’s Park over the summer.

However, this request was declined by new head coach Russell Martin, finally closing the chapter on Hagi’s time at Ibrox.

As the new season approaches, Ianis Hagi remains a free agent.

He has been linked with clubs in Italy, Poland, and Turkey but has yet to sign a deal.

At 26 years old, and with a wealth of experience in European competition, Rangers fans will be hoping to see the talented midfielder find the right opportunity to reignite his career.
