Hull City will reportedly watch Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl in Europa League action, with Rangers, RB Salzburg and Cardiff City all credited with an interest in the Norwegian.
Rangers have reportedly been handed another obstacle in their reported pursuit of Tromso midfielder Hjerto-Dahl after Hull City stepped up their interest in the Norwegian.
The 20-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move to Ibrox throughout the summer, with reports suggesting Rangers remain admirers despite Derek McInnes prioritising other areas of his squad while a number of midfielders remain at the club.
Earlier this week, former Rangers head coach Danny Rohl was reported to have revived his interest in Hjerto-Dahl after taking charge of RB Salzburg, adding another contender to the race for his signature.
Now, Hull City have taken their interest a stage further.
Hull City to watch Hjerto-Dahl
According to Hull Live, the Tigers will send scouts to watch Hjerto-Dahl when Tromso face Hradec Kralove in the second leg of their Europa League qualifier.
The report adds that Tromso are seeking a fee in the region of £8 million for the midfielder, with Rangers, Cardiff City and Hull all credited with an interest.
The scouting mission suggests Hull are seriously considering a move as they weigh up midfield additions before the transfer window closes.
They have also been noted with an interest in Rangers own Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin, who arrived back in Scotland following his post-World Cup break today.
The club's have already swapped goalkeepers, with Jack Butland heading to the Premier League newcomers, while Ivan Pandur made the trip North to Ibrox.
Kieran Dowell is also a member of the Tigers' squad, following his January move from Rangers.
Rangers face increasing competition
Rangers' long-standing interest in Hjertø-Dahl means McInnes could soon face a decision over whether to push ahead with a move.
The Scottish Premiership club have yet to make a formal approach, while their current midfield options and the need for departures have complicated plans for further additions.
With RB Salzburg, Hull City and Cardiff City all now in the mix, the race for Hjerto-Dahl is becoming increasingly competitive.
Should Tromso continue to hold out for around £8m, any interested club will need to make a significant financial commitment to secure one of Norway's most highly rated young midfielders.
