John Souttar's potential move to Aris Thessaloniki remains alive, but the Rangers defender's departure is currently being held up by an issue that needs to be resolved at Ibrox.
According to a report from Sport.FM, Aris have not abandoned their interest in Souttar, but the Greek club are not entirely in control of the situation.
The Scottish central defender must first settle the issue surrounding his compensation with Rangers before the transfer can progress.

The Greek outlet reports that the Souttar case continues to concern Aris and has not been abandoned, but stresses that the development does not depend solely on the Greek side.
The Rangers defender's situation therefore remains unresolved, with the financial issue involving his remaining year’s salary at Ibrox needing to be addressed before Aris can make further progress.
Souttar has been linked with a move away from Rangers after being made surplus to requirements by new manager Derek McInnes.

The Gers boss spoke about the defender’s situation before Sunday's 3-0 demolition of Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox.
"I spoke to John this morning, he trained, there's a bit of interest in him from one or two clubs, one club maybe a bit further down the line than the other but I think it's something that could develop but I don't think it's at that stage yet but maybe something will happen over the next two or three days,” he revealed.
"John has been told his long-term future would be best served elsewhere,” he said prior to the match with the St Mirren, the previous Wednesday.
"But if nothing materialises, then of course we'll honour his contract, and he'll come back into things."
The 29-year-old Scotland international has been with Rangers since joining from Hearts in 2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the Ibrox club.
Aris' continued interest could provide Souttar with an opportunity to secure a move to Greece, but according to the latest report, the next step depends on Rangers and the player reaching an agreement over his compensation.
At the moment, the move remains on hold rather than off and with Aris still interested, Souttar's Rangers future could yet be resolved in the coming days before the Greek window slams shut on Tuesday night.
