Andreas Skov Olsen's difficult spell at Rangers has been put down to the team's style of play by one of his new coaches at Istanbul Basaksehir.
The Denmark international has joined the Turkish side on loan from Wolfsburg after Rangers opted against making his stay at Ibrox permanent following last season.
Skov Olsen arrived in January with high expectations but struggled to make a consistent impact, starting just seven Premiership matches before returning to Germany at the end of the campaign.
New coach points to Rangers' style
Basaksehir assistant coach John Lammers believes Rangers' direct approach did not suit the winger's strengths.
Having previously coached against Skov Olsen during his time in Denmark, Lammers believes the 26-year-old will be better suited to his new surroundings.
"He played for FC Nordsjælland while I was manager of Esbjerg and I remember him very clearly. He was a really talented player and he still is," he said.
"We are a team that wants to play football and that is something Andreas will enjoy.
"He comes directly from Rangers, who play with a lot of long balls and in a league with a lot of physical duels.
"That is not him. He is a creative winger who knows how to find a way to the goal. He will fit in well with the team."
Lammers added that he expects Skov Olsen to rediscover his best form in Turkey.
"Hopefully, after last season, he will enjoy playing football again."
Rangers passed on permanent deal twice
Rangers initially chose not to activate the £8 million purchase option included in Skov Olsen's loan agreement after an underwhelming second half of the season.
Wolfsburg later returned with a significantly reduced asking price, offering Rangers the opportunity to sign the Denmark international permanently for around £4.2 million.
Even after effectively halving their valuation, Rangers decided against reopening negotiations.
The decision reflected the club's view that the money could be invested more effectively elsewhere as Derek McInnes reshaped his squad, particularly after Skov Olsen struggled to justify a permanent move during his time at Ibrox.
