Danny Röhl says he remains “totally convinced” in the long-term direction of his Rangers team, despite the frustration and tension that spilled into the stands during tonight’s 2–0 defeat to Roma at Ibrox.

Banners and chants directed at senior figures in the boardroom underlined the discontent surrounding the club’s wider situation, but Röhl insists the work being done on the pitch is moving in the right direction.

The Rangers manager acknowledged the emotional atmosphere and the feeling that belief drained from both the team and the crowd after conceding early but stressed that he sees commitment from the players and growth in recent weeks.

“I’m totally convinced that we go in the right direction,” Röhl said.

“I see at the moment a team who is willing to turn things around.”

He pointed to the psychological impact of recent months, admitting confidence remains fragile in big moments.

“Especially after the start of the season, the team had not so much confidence and you see it in these big games at the moment,” he said.

However, Röhl made clear that the solution is not to withdraw or accept setbacks as inevitable, but to push harder for consistency and intensity.

He said: “We have to work hard and we need on Sunday again a strong performance. We cannot do one step less.”

With the UEFA Europa League campaign now hanging in the balance, the immediate emphasis is on league improvement and building momentum before the international break.

Röhl was firm that reaction and resilience now matter more than reflection.

Focus Now Turns to Squad Development and January Planning

With questions already forming around potential January recruitment, Röhl emphasised that developing the current squad remains his priority.

He does not see the answer as a wholesale rebuild, but as improving individuals and raising collective standards.

He said: “At the moment my focus is to develop my players.

“I believe 100% that there is much, much more in this team.”

He highlighted recent progress and referenced Mikey Moore as a concrete example of visible growth under his coaching staff.

He said: “When I see at the moment Mikey [Moore], how he has improved in the last two weeks, it makes me very positive.”

The January window will be addressed, but only once the coaching staff and football leadership have gathered a full picture based on these early weeks.

He said: “We will sit together and bring all the first impressions in. But this is the process where we are.”

A manager clear in his task

Röhl is not naïve to the scale of frustration among supporters. But his message is consistent: the direction is set, the work is ongoing, and the response must come together on the pitch.
