Rangers Women look to fight their way back into the SWPL title race tomorrow night as Old Firm rivals Celtic arrive at Ibrox.

Rangers sit fifth in the table heading into the match after early season defeats to title rivals Hearts, Glasgow City and champions Hibernian – overshadowing wins over Hamilton, Aberdeen and Celtic amongst others.

Trailing league leaders City by nine points already – this match is even more of a must win than an Old Firm already is for Leanne Crichton’s injury plagued side.

Celtic have also suffered a defeat to Glasgow City this season – alongside their loss in the season’s first Old Firm match and have conceded in five of their ten matches so far.

Team news

Crichton revealed Rangers will be without long-term absentee Brogan Hay, Sarah Evans, Lizzie Arnot for the match. Also missing will be Kathy Hill but Roma loanee Shin Ji-Kim may make the match after recovering well from a hamstring injury.

Celtic will be without Clare Goldie but have welcomed back Jenny Smith and Chloe Craig after long term absences.

Match Officials

The referee will be Thomas Denholm, who is primarily a Scottish Lowland League referee, but who has officiated some Scottish Cup matches this season. He has given 48 yellow cards, two red cards and awarded three penalties this season so far in eight matches.

Steven G. Spence, who has SPFL Championship experience will run the line alongside Victoria Kane, who has featured in SPFL League 2 this year, and was involved in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals last season.

Kane is also a former player of Celtic Women’s youth setup but was involved in their recent defeat to City - which could dispel any issues of bias.

There will be no VAR in operation for this match.
