Rangers look primed to add serious firepower to their attacking options this week, with a move for Tottenham wonderkid Mikey Moore edging closer.
The 17-year-old winger, who has already been touted in some quarters as “one of the best in the world” for his age group, is expected to join the Ibrox side on a season-long loan following Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos.
It would be a significant coup for Russell Martin. Moore is not only one of the most highly rated prospects in England but already boasts real top-level experience.
The teenager has played 21 first-team matches for Spurs, including 12 in the Premier League and five in the UEFA Europa League.
He made his debut in a 2–0 defeat to Manchester City at just 16 years and 277 days, becoming Tottenham’s youngest-ever Premier League player, and made history again last season, scoring against IF Elfsborg to become England’s youngest scorer in a major European competition at 17 years and 172 days.
A regular in England’s youth ranks with 39 caps and 24 goals to his name across various age groups, Moore has long been earmarked for greatness.
Now, a spell at Rangers could be the platform to elevate him even further.

Few know both clubs better than Jermain Defoe, who had two spells with Spurs and won the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in 2020/21.
Having also worked with Moore during his time coaching in the Spurs academy, Defoe is convinced the young winger has the tools to thrive at Ibrox.
“As soon as I saw him, I thought he’s got something special,” Defoe told Footy Accumulators.
“He deserves the opportunities that he’s getting right now, and we must remember, he’s very young, only 17. He’s still got time to improve, and I don't think anyone has seen the best of Moore yet.”
Defoe’s praise carries weight. The former England striker saw first-hand how Moore dominated youth matches and is confident that consistency at senior level will unlock his full potential.
“Once he plays consistently and gets that confidence and arrogance that he had in the youth team, then we’ll see the best of Mikey. He is a top player.”
That’s a view shared by Spurs boss Thomas Frank, who confirmed the club’s intention to send Moore on loan this summer.
“Mikey is a big talent, I’m really excited about his future here at Tottenham,” Frank said to The Standard ahead of Spurs’ pre-season derby with Arsenal.
“I think for all players, but especially the younger players, they need to get that first-team consistent football into their bodies. If we can find the right option, we’ll do that.”
For Moore, Rangers might just be that right option. A club with European ambitions, a demanding fanbase, and a manager eager to blend youth with quality.
For Martin, securing one of the most gifted players of his generation, even temporarily, could prove transformative.
Should the deal be completed, Moore’s arrival at Ibrox will not just be a boost for Rangers’ wide options, it will be a statement of intent even if just for a short spell.
