Rangers are reportedly among a number of clubs keeping tabs on Stockport County striker Adama Sidibeh following an impressive first six months at Edgeley Park.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Ibrox club are monitoring the 28-year-old alongside Championship sides Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City as interest begins to build ahead of the new season.
Sidibeh has enjoyed one of the most remarkable rises in British football in recent years. As recently as 2024, he was playing non-league football with Warrington Rylands before earning a move to St Johnstone, where his performances in the Scottish Premiership quickly attracted attention despite the Saints relegation that year.
Stockport secured his signature in January and the Gambia international wasted little time making an impact. He scored 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions, including seven during the club's run to the League One play-off final, establishing himself as one of the division's standout forwards.
His pace, relentless pressing and physical presence have made him an attractive proposition for clubs looking to add a different dimension in attack.
Rangers target forward options
Rangers' reported interest comes as the club continue to assess options in the forward department this summer.
While the current squad boasts established attacking talent, adding another striker with a contrasting profile could appeal to Derek McInnes as he prepares for a demanding domestic and European campaign.
Danilo is set for a return to Brazil leaving the club with four options in Lawrence Shankland, Youssef Chermiti, Bojan Miovski and Ryan Naderi.
The club look set to play with two forwards this season, with former Hearts boss McInnes aiming for one more striking option, with Sidibeh being considered alongside former Hamilton striker Ryan One.
Scottish Premiership history
Sidibeh's familiarity with Scottish football could also work in his favour. His spell with St Johnstone demonstrated he is capable of competing at Premiership level before making the move south, while his rapid development suggests there is still room for further improvement despite only entering full-time football two years ago.
When announcing his arrival earlier this year, Stockport's head of recruitment Jonathan Smith praised both the striker's mentality and potential.
"His journey from non-league through to the Scottish Premiership and becoming a full international for Gambia speaks volumes about his character and determination," Smith said.
"He brings exceptional pace, an outstanding work ethic out of possession and a real intensity that gives defenders no time to settle. Those qualities align perfectly with how we want our teams to play."
Whether Rangers choose to formalise their interest remains to be seen, but Sidibeh's rapid rise has clearly not gone unnoticed.
With multiple clubs believed to be monitoring his situation, Stockport may face a battle to keep hold of one of their most influential players before the transfer window closes.
