A Summer Rangers transfer target looks set to head to England as the Ibrox club focus on other targets.

Linked with a host of players this summer, Rangers and new head coach Russell Martin have been busy in the transfer market with 10 players coming through the doors and Nobel Mendy looking set to be number 11 in the coming days.

However, one rumour that has went quiet is the Light Blue’s reported interest in Hull City winger Abu Kamara.

Birmingham City, also extremely busy in the transfer market this window, have reportedly had a £3.5m bid accepted for the 22-year-old wide man, with Spanish side Getafe also linked.

He will join the newly promoted EFL Championship side in the coming days, ending any remaining links to Ibrox.

Rangers had been looking at the former England Under 20’s international earlier in the window, before signing Mikey Moore, Djeidi Gassama and Oliver Antman as wide options.

Rangers are still keen on another addition out wide, but it won’t be Kamara, as the Ibrox club are looking to ship out £28k a week Welsh flop Rabbi Matondo before upgrading their wide options.

The former Manchester City man has been told he has no future at Ibrox but has had any potential exit blocked by a pre-season injury that may see Rangers stuck with him until at least January.

Other players still awaiting an Ibrox exit after being told they have no future under Martin include Ben Davies, linked with a return to Birmingham himself where he spent last season on loan, Jose Cifuentes, Leon King, Ridvan Yilmaz and Robbie Fraser.

Martin has said recently that Rangers do not need to sell before they recruit any more but with a bloated squad, numbers do need trimmed.

With only two and a bit weeks of the window remaining, and a horrendous domestic start to the season, Rangers need to get deals done, in and out, sooner rather than later.
