Rangers pursuit of a new centre-forward appears to be moving into concrete territory, with German reports suggesting the Ibrox club have tabled a formal bid for Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi, in a development that could have direct implications for Danilo’s future.
Sky Sports Germany journalist Ben Hacker along with transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg have reported that Rangers have submitted a €3 million offer for the 22-year-old, with talks between the clubs ongoing. Naderi is said to be keen on the move to Glasgow, a factor that could accelerate negotiations if a fee can be agreed with the German 3. Liga side.
The link is significant in the context of Rangers current attacking reshuffle. Dutch interest in Danilo has already emerged, and the Brazilian’s stop-start spell at Ibrox, punctuated by multiple injury setbacks, has left his role increasingly uncertain.
With Rangers exploring options to strengthen up front, the pursuit of Naderi points to a potential succession plan rather than mere squad depth.
Physically, Naderi offers a different dimension. Standing at 6ft 3in, he brings presence and aerial strength, but his numbers this season also suggest mobility and technical involvement.
In 17 appearances in Germany’s third tier, he has recorded eight goals and five assists, a return that indicates both finishing ability and a willingness to link play. He can operate both as an out-and-out striker and a second striker/number ten.
Naderi’s profile, strong, direct and productive, aligns with the type of focal point often required in the Scottish Premiership, particularly against deep defensive setups.
There is also a longer-term element. Naderi is under contract at Rostock until June 2028, meaning any deal would represent an investment rather than a short-term fix. At 22, he is entering what should be his peak years, offering Rangers the prospect of both immediate contribution and future value if development continues.
Competition for his signature appears strong. Reports have linked him with clubs such as RB Salzburg, Mainz, Paderborn and Heidenheim, alongside interest from Portugal.
Should a deal progress, the knock-on effect for Danilo becomes clearer. With Rangers already reassessing their striker options and external interest in the Brazilian building, the arrival of another centre-forward would further shift the pecking order.
A loan or permanent exit for Danilo would then become more plausible as the club seek to rebalance the squad.
