Rangers have strengthened their recruitment department after completing the appointment of experienced football figure Mick Priest as a first-team scout.
The 56-year-old joins the Ibrox club with more than two decades of experience in coaching, recruitment and football operations, having worked across England, Israel and Norway.
Priest most recently served as sporting director of Norwegian side IK Start, a position he had held since August 2024. During his time with the club, he oversaw football operations and recruitment, adding another dimension to a career that has included coaching and scouting at a high level.
Before stepping into the sporting director role, Priest had previously been part of IK Start's coaching staff as assistant coach, helping the club both on the training ground and behind the scenes before moving into the executive position.
His arrival at Rangers sees him return to a dedicated recruitment role, where he will work as a first-team scout as the club continues to develop its football structure.
Earlier in his career, Priest spent almost six years at Manchester United, working as an academy coach between 1998 and 2004. During that period, he played a role in developing young talent within one of English football's most respected academy systems.
His experience also extends overseas, having worked as an assistant coach at Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa, one of the country's most successful clubs. Priest later reunited with respected Dutch coach Rene Meulensteen during a spell at Fulham, serving as part of the Premier League club's coaching staff.
More recently, he was Lead Scout at Brentford, where he contributed to one of English football's most admired recruitment departments.
Brentford have earned widespread praise in recent years for their data-driven approach to identifying talent, with Priest playing a role in the club's scouting operation.
Following his new role being confirmed he spoke highly of Rangers as an institution.
“I'm delighted to say that I have started a new role as First Team scout for one of British Football's biggest institutions,” he posted on LinkedIn.
“I know this means that I will get bombarded with players and so I can't promise that I will reply to them all, I already have tasks to perform as part of my assigned role. Hopefully you understand.”
His appointment represents another addition to Rangers' off-field team as the club continues to strengthen its football department ahead of the new campaign.
With experience ranging from academy coaching and first-team management support to elite-level scouting and sporting direction, Priest brings a broad knowledge of the game to Ibrox.
Rangers will hope that expertise can further enhance their recruitment process as they look to build a squad capable of competing domestically and in Europe throughout the season.
