Rangers pursuit of striker Ryan Naderi has hit a significant obstacle, with Hansa Rostock currently unwilling to accept the reported €3 million offer on the table.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that talks between the clubs are stalling, with the 3. Liga side resisting a January sale despite the bid from Ibrox.

Two factors are said to be driving their stance. Firstly, Rostock have not yet lined up a suitable replacement, a key issue mid-season for a player who has been central to their attacking output. Secondly, the German club believe they could command a higher fee for Naderi in the summer market.

The striker, however, is understood to be keen on the move to Glasgow, keeping the situation live as the deadline approaches.

Naderi has emerged as a priority profile for Rangers this window as they look to reshape their forward line. Standing 6ft 3in and combining physical presence with mobility, he has posted eight goals and five assists in 17 league appearances this season, numbers that underline why he has attracted attention beyond Germany as well.

Rangers interest reflects a broader strategic picture. With Danilo’s future uncertain and attacking roles being reassessed, the club are seeking a more durable focal point capable of leading the line through the second half of the campaign. Naderi’s blend of size, work rate and link-up play fits that requirement.

For Rostock, though, timing is everything. Losing a key forward mid-season without cover would weaken their own objectives, and holding the player until summer offers the possibility of a stronger negotiating position, particularly with interest from multiple leagues noted in recent weeks.

That tension leaves the deal in a delicate place. Rangers have shown willingness to invest, but whether they return with an improved offer or look elsewhere could depend on how firm Rostock’s stance remains and how much time is left in the window.

With the player pushing for the move and Rangers keen to strengthen, the story is not closed. But for now, negotiations are at an impasse.
