Rangers have reportedly held fresh discussions with Atalanta over a potential move for Nicolas Raskin, although any deal would have to wait until after the World Cup.
According to Italian outlet Atalanta Reporter, the Serie A side have made contact with Rangers regarding the Belgium international, who is said to carry a €20 million price tag.
However, Rangers are understood to value the midfielder considerably higher, with the Ibrox club believed to be seeking around €25 million for one of their most prized assets despite only 24 months remaining on his deal in Scotland.
Any negotiations are also likely to be delayed until Belgium's World Cup campaign comes to an end.
That could still be some time away. Raskin has been one of Belgium's standout performers during the tournament and helped his country reach the last 16, where they will now face tournament hosts the United States.
The knockout clash carries added intrigue from a Rangers perspective, with former Ibrox loanee and teammate of Raskin, Malik Tillman expected to feature for the USA.

Rangers hold firm despite Atalanta interest
Raskin's stock has continued to rise over the past year, with his performances for both Rangers and Belgium establishing him as one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe.
The 25-year-old has become a regular starter for his national side and another impressive display against the United States would only strengthen Rangers' negotiating position.
The reported €20 million figure appears unlikely to tempt the Scottish Premiership side despite Raskin's contract situation with the club hopeful his international showings will boost him to their own value.

Atalanta also linked with Thelo Aasgaard
Interestingly, the same source has also claimed Atalanta are monitoring Thelo Aasgaard despite the Norwegian enduring a difficult first season at Ibrox following his arrival.
A fee in the region of €15 million has been suggested, although Rangers are reportedly not looking to part with the attacking midfielder this summer.
Derek McInnes is understood to remain convinced Aasgaard can make a significant impact after a challenging debut campaign, and the club are keen to give him the opportunity to establish himself rather than cash in after just one season.
With Raskin's future unlikely to be resolved until Belgium's World Cup concludes, Rangers could yet face an important few weeks as interest from across Europe continues to build in several members of their squad.
