Lyall Cameron is in talks over a potential move to Dundee United as the Rangers midfielder weighs up his next move before the transfer window closes.
The Daily Record reports that United have opened discussions with Rangers over a loan deal for the 23-year-old, with the Tannadice club hoping to finalise an agreement over the next 24 hours.
Cameron was still training with Rangers on Tuesday morning as talks continued, with the midfielder now waiting for the green light to make the move.
The potential switch would see Cameron return to a familiar part of Scottish football after he began his youth career with Dundee United before moving across the city to Dundee where he made his senior breakthrough.
Cameron's Rangers career never got started
Rangers signed the midfielder from Dundee at the beginning of last season, but Cameron struggled to establish himself at Ibrox after signing a pre-contract under Phillipe Clement in January 2025.
He failed to make a significant impact under Clement’s replacement, Russell Martin, who was in charge when he finally arrived in Govan, other than a Champions' League goal away to Viktoria Plzen, and latterly Danny Rohl before spending the second half of last season on loan at Aberdeen.
Cameron impressed during his time at Pittodrie and earned praise for his performances, but his situation at Rangers has not improved under new manager Derek McInnes.
The midfielder has been left on the fringes of the first-team squad at the beginning of the new campaign, with Rangers understood to be open to allowing him to leave before the transfer window closes.
Cameron attracting interest from Turkey
Dundee United are not the only club to have shown an interest in Cameron.
Rizespor have been monitoring Cameron as they assess their options in midfield, with the Turkish interest adding another potential route out of Ibrox for the 23-year-old.
However, Cameron is understood to prefer remaining in Scotland.
That could make a return to Dundee United an attractive option for the midfielder, particularly given his familiarity with the club and his desire to continue his career in Scottish football.
United are looking to strengthen their midfield after selling Vicko Sevelj to Azerbaijani side Neftchi.
Jim Goodwin's side have also explored alternative targets, having failed with a bid for Falkirk midfielder Brad Spencer last week.
