Rangers on loan left-back Jayden Meghoma says the squad are determined to show that Sunday’s win over Kilmarnock was just the beginning, as the team prepare for a tough test away to Hibernian under the lights at Easter Road.

The defender, who has impressed with his athleticism and maturity since breaking into the side, told Rangers TV that the focus within the group is simple: keep progressing and keep winning.

“Every game is exciting for us,” Meghoma said.

“We’re in a good place at the moment and hopefully we can get three points.”

Rangers head to Edinburgh tonight with the clear aim of building momentum for the first time this season.

Even though new head coach Danny Röhl has only had limited training time with the players, Meghoma says his message has been sharp and direct.

The 19-year-old said: “He’s told us to be hungry and find ways to win games of football.

“That’s what we did at the weekend and hopefully we can execute that again today.”

That “hunger” has been the key message from the boss since his arrival, echoed by teammates and now by Meghoma. The defender stressed that improvement must be continuous, not a one-off reaction.

He said: “For us it’s all about progression and keep getting better and better.

“That’s what the best teams do.”

Tonight’s match represents a very different type of challenge to the weekend, however.

Hibs at Easter Road, under the lights, with an aggressive front-foot style and strong home crowd, is widely seen as a test of toughness and mentality. The Hibees are unbeaten at home in the Scottish Premiership for almost a year, stretching back to a defeat to St Mirren last November.

Meghoma acknowledged this saying: “Every game is tough in Scotland, and today will be tough as well.

“We know what we need to do to get the three points.”

Asked what specifically Rangers need to bring to the pitch, his answer was immediate: “Hunger, aggression and all the things associated with Hibs that we know we need to combat.”

For Meghoma, there is no shying away from that side of football.

“We’re ready to show that side of our game as well,” he said.

Rangers have taken their first step under Röhl. Tonight will show whether they can take the next one and begin to claw back the gap between themselves and the top two of Celtic and unbeaten Hearts ahead of Sunday's trip to Hampden for the Scottish League Cup semi-final Old Firm clash.
