Rangers take to the hallowed Ibrox turf for their first domestic match at home tomorrow as new head coach Russell Martin and his side welcome Dundee to the stadium.
Managed by Steven Pressley the Dees arrive hopeful of an upset following Rangers disappointing 1-1 draw away to Motherwell last weekend on the opening day.
However, Martin and his men responded to that result with a sensational 3-0 win over Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against the Czech side.
With a win expected but also necessary to get our league title challenge underway here is how we at Inside Ibrox predict the Gers to line up tomorrow at 5.45.
Hamza Igamane, Thelo Aasgaard and Dujon Sterling remain unavailable due to injury and Mikey Moore is still awaiting international clearance to debut for Rangers following his loan move from English Premier League side Spurs.
Jack Cranmer
Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Souttar, Jefte; Raskin, Cameron, Diomande; Antman, Gassama, Dessers.
I think Joe Rothwell and Max Aarons will be rested after a hectic start to life at Rangers for both, expect captain James Tavernier to come back in at right back especially after Aarons knock on Tuesday night.
Nico Raskin was lively when he came off the bench during the week and I expect him to start from the offing here. It will be a choice from now on between the Belgian and Rothwell for the no.6 position as both don’t seem to be able to operate together in the middle of the park.
Front three were outstanding against Plzen and I do not foresee any changes to the winning formula; hope we start strong with this three and bring on subs once game is killed off to rest the trio ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Czechia.
Bryan Watson
Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Souttar, Jefte; Rothwell, Raskin, Cameron; Antman, Gassama, Dessers.
I think Tav starts at RB because Max Aarons tookna few sore ones on Tuesday night before he had to be taken off - I know the manager said hes fit but think Tav may start so Aarons is 100% fine for Tuesday.
I think Diomande drops out for Raskin. I thought Dio looked tired on Tuesday night so Martin may look to bring Raskin in to keep energy up.
I expect the impressive duo of Joe Rothwell and Lyall Cameron to continue their starting berths.
I would have thought Mikey Moore would have started this game in place of Gassama but obviously the registration is being held up.
Same front three as Tuesday but would expect Curtis, Dowell, Cortes to come on early in the second half to give Gassama & Antman a rest for Wednesday depending on how the game is going.
David Marshall
Butland; Aarons, Djiga, Souttar, Jefte; Rothwell, Cameron, Diomande; Antman, Gassama, Dessers
I think we will stick with the same team from Tuesday night after such an impressive showing.
We are in a good position for the coming mid-week trip to Plzen and the emphasis should be put on making a statement in the league and getting points on the board.
Steven Wilson
Butland; Aarons, Djiga, Souttar, Jefte; Raskin, Dio, Cameron; Antman, Dessers, Gassama
Don’t expect much change for this game and to keep the team that performed so well to continue into this game to get us up and running domestically.
I do feel Rothwell will be rested ahead of the game on Wednesday night as he has played a lot of football in a short period of time, would expect Raskin to return as his replacement in the only change.
Rangers vs Dundee: Where to watch first Ibrox league match?
“I don’t think we’re done”: Russell Martin hints at more Rangers transfers
Russell Martin gives Rangers updates on Aasgaard, Moore & Igamane
With Rangers looking to kick-start their league campaign in front of a packed Ibrox, all eyes will be on how Russell Martin balances momentum with rotation.
The midweek thumping of Viktoria Plzen has raised expectations after last weekend’s poor start but Dundee arrive with ambition and nothing to lose under Steven Pressley.
Whether it’s Tavernier or Aarons at right-back, Raskin or Rothwell in midfield, or subtle tweaks elsewhere, the core of this exciting new-look Gers side appears to be taking shape.
One thing is certain, a strong performance and three points are non-negotiable if Rangers are serious about reclaiming the Premiership crown ahead of a crunch Old Firm match at the end of August that is already looking like a must win.
