Emmanuel Fernandez has played down growing transfer speculation linking him with some of European football’s biggest clubs, insisting his attention is fixed solely on Rangers and the immediate demands of the season and their Scottish Premiership title race.
The defender’s recent performances have reportedly drawn interest from Germany, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich both said to be monitoring his development.
But when asked directly about the rumours by the Rangers Review, Fernandez revealed he has barely registered the noise.
“Honestly, I haven’t even heard about it,” he said.
“This is one of the first times, I think someone told me before, but it’s something I haven’t focused on. I’m focused on what’s going on here and I’m focused on being successful for this game.”
The response was in keeping with a player whose form has surged after a challenging start to the campaign. Fernandez acknowledged the improvement but was quick to deflect individual praise, framing his progress within the collective.
“I feel like I’ve got to take credit to my team-mates,” he said.
“Without my team-mates, I wouldn’t have done well, and without me then my team-mates wouldn’t have done well. It all comes hand in hand together.
“We’ve just got to keep moving, keep going and keep grinding and we’ll get results.”
That emphasis on cohesion mirrors the broader message emerging from the Rangers dressing room: development is shared, not individual, and momentum is built through consistency rather than headlines.
The speculation comes at a time when Rangers are locked in a tight domestic battle, with Celtic’s winning experience often cited as a defining factor in the title race.
Fernandez, however, pointed to a different driver within his own squad: Hunger.
“I feel like you have to have the hunger when you come to a club like this,” he said.
“If you come to a club like this and you don’t have the hunger, then what are you here for?
“I feel like as a team we just need to stay focused, focus on each game at a time, and then that’s where positives will come.”
For Fernandez, the transfer talk is nothing more than background noise - the big defender is fully focused, ready and hungry for domestic success with Rangers this season.
