Clinton Nsiala has officially left Rangers, sealing a loan move to Belgian side KVC Westerlo until the end of the season.

Rangers confirmed the departure in a brief statement, saying: “We can today confirm Clinton Nsiala has joined Belgian side Westerlo on a loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy.

“Everyone at the club wishes Clinton well for his loan spell.”

The agreement includes an option for Westerlo to make the move permanent for a fee believed to be around £1 million, meaning Nsiala’s time at Ibrox could effectively come to an end if the Belgian club decide to exercise that clause in the summer.

Westerlo were equally clear about their intentions and enthusiasm upon announcing the signing.

In their own statement, the club said: “KVC Westerlo have strengthened their defence with the arrival of Clinton Nsiala. The 22-year-old French centre-back joins from Rangers FC on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.”

They also highlighted a familiar connection with the sides manager which helped smooth the move, adding: “Nsiala is no stranger to Issame Charaï, who already worked with him during his time in Glasgow.

“With his arrival, KVC Westerlo bolster their defensive line and bring in a young, motivated defender who can help build the team’s future.”

The club concluded simply: “Welcome, Clinton!”

The presence of Charai, who previously worked with Nsiala at Rangers, is understood to have played a key role in facilitating the transfer.

The defender now moves into an environment where he is known and where there is a clear pathway to regular football, something that proved difficult to secure consistently at Ibrox.

Nsiala joined Rangers from AC Milan but struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team.

Competition for places at centre-back, along with managerial changes, meant opportunities were limited, and a loan move became the most practical route to gaining minutes and continuing his development.

For Rangers, the deal provides clarity in the defensive department, and the possibility of a future fee should Westerlo opt to make the move permanent. For Nsiala, it represents a chance to reset, play regularly and prove himself in a new league.

With the move now confirmed by both clubs, attention turns to how quickly the defender can settle in Belgium.
