Fresh insight into Rangers-linked forward Ryan Naderi has emerged, with respected broadcaster Derek Rae outlining the striker’s profile and reinforcing why the Ibrox club’s reported €3 million interest makes tactical sense.

Rae, well known for his Bundesliga coverage with ESPN and past work on Scottish football for BT Sports, shared his assessment of the Hansa Rostock forward, highlighting a blend of physical presence, mobility and work rate that aligns with the modern striker profile many clubs now prioritise.

“Ryan Naderi is a tall, physically strong striker with the ability to score & set up goals & has shown this at 3. Liga (3rd tier) level with Hansa Rostock,” Rae wrote.

“[He is] Also quick and effective without the ball in pressing. Right footed [and] promising.”

That description adds weight to earlier reports that Rangers have tabled a bid in the region of €3m for the 22-year-old, identifying him as a potential addition to bolster attacking depth and bring a different dimension to the forward line.

The physical profile is an obvious starting point. Naderi’s height and strength suggest a player capable of operating as a focal point, occupying centre-backs and providing a platform for runners, an asset in the Scottish Premiership, where defensive blocks can be compact and aerial duels frequent. However, Rae’s emphasis on his work without the ball is equally significant.

“Quick and effective without the ball in pressing” points to a forward comfortable in a high-intensity system, able to close down defenders and initiate pressure from the front.

That trait has become increasingly valuable, particularly for sides looking to control territory and force turnovers high up the pitch.

His record in Germany’s 3. Liga shows end product alongside industry, with Rae noting both scoring and creative contributions. The ability to “score & set up goals” suggests a striker who does not operate purely as a poacher, but one capable of linking play and bringing others into the game.

At 22, Naderi also fits the recruitment model of targeting emerging talent with development upside.

A move to Scotland would represent a step up in visibility and competitive pressure from the German third tier, but his grounding in a physically demanding league and background in German football’s structured system may ease that transition.

If the deal progresses, Naderi would arrive not as a finished product, but as a promising, modern centre-forward with tools suited to both domestic battles and high-tempo European nights.

He looks set to replace Danilo, with the Brazilian linked with a return to the Netherlands and has also been subject of a reported bid from Cypriot side Pafos FC.
