Rangers January recruitment drive appears to be gathering serious momentum, with reports in Germany claiming Andreas Skov Olsen is already on his way to complete a medical ahead of a move to Ibrox.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed on X that the Denmark international has packed his belongings in Wolfsburg and is travelling to Scotland, with Rangers and the Bundesliga club having reached an agreement on a loan deal until the end of the season.

“Been told Andreas Skov Olsen has already packed his belongings in Wolfsburg and is on his way for his medical with Rangers,” Plettenberg posted.

“Rangers and Wolfsburg are in agreement over a loan deal until the end of the season. Exclusive news from Sunday, set to become official soon.”

The update is a major boost for Rangers head coach Danny Rohl, who has been pushing for attacking reinforcements as he looks to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.

A regular for Denmark, the 26-year-old has featured in major international tournaments and built a strong reputation in the across Europe for his pace, directness, and goal threat from wide areas from his spells in Italy and Belgium.

For Rangers, the move signals a clear intent to add proven quality rather than simply investing in long-term projects. Rohl has already made an impact since taking charge, dragging the Gers back into the title race after a turbulent start to the campaign.

Strengthening the wide areas of the attack has become a priority after defensive and midfield improvements and Skov Olsen’s arrival would provide an immediate upgrade in this position.

The deal is understood to be a loan until the end of the season, giving Rangers flexibility while also allowing the player to showcase his qualities in Scottish football. Talks over personal terms are believed to have progressed smoothly, with Skov Olsen keen on the opportunity to play a key role in a title push.

The wide man, who was a target for the Ibrox club several years ago under both Steven Gerrard and Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, will be their sixth loan of the season – and will be the last player allowed to join on a temporary deal unless an existing deal is terminated early.

Rangers have been linked with multiple wingers in recent weeks, but Skov Olsen has always been viewed as the priority target. His profile fits Rohl’s desire for players who can deliver now, rather than needing time to settle or develop.

The Dane’s ability to operate on either flank, cut inside, and contribute goals makes him a valuable asset for a Rangers side that has at times struggled for consistency in the final third. His European experience is also expected to be a major plus as Rangers continue to balance domestic and continental ambitions.

The agreement now appears to be in place, with the medical the final step before an official announcement.

For supporters, the news will be seen as a statement of intent from the club. After a season that began with a swift managerial change and inconsistency, Rangers are now showing signs of a more ambitious and targeted recruitment strategy under Rohl.

If the move is completed as expected, Skov Olsen could make his debut in the upcoming league fixture with Dundee at Ibrox - adding a new dimension to Rangers attack at a crucial point in the season.

With the Scottish Premiership title race finely balanced and the Scottish Cup still in play, the arrival of a player with Skov Olsen’s pedigree could prove to be a decisive moment in Rangers campaign.

All eyes now turn to Ibrox as fans await confirmation of the deal – and the first glimpse of Rangers newest attacking weapon.
