Rangers bounced back from consecutive defeats before the international break against PSV and Celtic with a 2-0 win away to St Johnstone.

It only took Michael Beale’s side 16 minutes to take the lead in Perth as Danilo, making his first start in six games, bravely got in infront of Liam Gordon to head the ball home.

But ecstacy quickly turned into agony as the Brazilian had to be replaced after colliding with Gordon after heading home, with Beale revealing post-match that the striker would require surgery for a fractured cheekbone.

It knocked Rangers momentum as, despite not being under any threat defensively, still lacked that quick and insensive football the fans wanted to see.

But they wrapped up the points with 12 minutes to go as sub Rabbi Matondo slotted the ball home following a lovely through ball from Tom Lawrence, who was making his first start in 13 months.

In the end, it was a comfortable day for the away side, albeit still a good bit off of where they need to be to challenge Celtic for the title over the long haul.

With that being said, here are the player ratings for Rangers vs St Johnstone.

Jack Butland – 6

Quiet afternoon’s work as not trouble at all during the game. Had to be quick off his line at one point to beat Kane to the ball following a slack back pass.

James Tavernier – 7

Did what he had to defensively and provided a trade mark ball that set up Danilo’s goal.

Connor Goldson – 7

Solid outing as the two week international break seemed to have helped him work his way back to fitness.

Ben Davies – 7

An improved display from the Englishmen and he swept up when needed and looked improved in the physical aspect of the game.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 6

Did what he needed to do defensively but crossing still needs work.

Nico Raskin – 7

Better from the Belgian as he helped keep things ticking well and played a crucial role in the build up to Matondo’s goal.

John Lundstram – 7

Helped get Rangers back on the front foot in the second half as he won the ball back on several occasions in the middle of the pitch and drove the side forward.

Sam Lammers – 6

A few nice touches early on from Lammers and faded the longer the game went on. Struggling still to replicate his pre-season form.

Tom Lawrence – 8

Good to see the Welshman back in action, with 90 minutes as well, and helped provide a creative spark Rangers badly need. Lovely ball set up Matondo for second and always looked to break the lines. Vital with Cantwell out for the next few weeks.

Kemar Roofe – 7

Denied a ball by VAR for the second game in a row but worked hard up front and looked to create. Linked well with Sima, particularly in the second half.

Danilo – 6

Brave to head home the opener for Rangers but had to go off as a result with nasty facial injury. Might not play a part again until after the October break.
