We asked ChatGPT to name the top Rangers players of the 1990s

ChatGPT has become quite the buzz word of our times.

The chatbot system has essentially became the poster child for the rising use of AI in modern times, something which is proving more and more controversial, especially in instances of job replacement like what we are seeing with the SAG-AFTRA strikes in America.

When it comes to journalism though, ChatGPT can be a useful additional resource, especially when it comes to generating a list due to the amount of data the system has at its disposal.

As a result, we at Inside Ibrox decided to ask ChatGPT who it thought the best Rangers players were from the club’s most successful decade – the 1990s – and why they were selected.

1. Brian Laudrup

Regarded as one of the most skillful and creative wingers of his time, Laudrup was a key player for Rangers during the 1990s, contributing significantly to their success.

2. Paul Gascoigne

Gazza’s arrival at Rangers created a huge buzz, and he lived up to expectations with his exceptional footballing abilities and memorable performances.

3. Ally McCoist

Rangers’ all-time leading goal scorer, McCoist’s lethal finishing and commitment to the club made him a beloved figure among fans.

4. Richard Gough

As the captain and a commanding defender, Gough played a crucial role in Rangers’ defence during their successful years.

5. Ian Durrant

Despite a career-threatening injury, Durrant displayed immense determination to return to the pitch and continued to be an influential midfielder.

6. Andy Goram

“The Goalie” was an exceptional shot-stopper and played a significant role in preserving Rangers’ clean sheets and victories.

7. Stuart McCall

A versatile and hard-working midfielder, McCall’s tenacity made him an essential part of Rangers’ setup.

8. Ian Ferguson

9. Jorg Albertz

Known for his powerful left foot and ability to score crucial goals, the German midfielder was a fan-favorite at Ibrox.

10. Gordon Durie

A prolific striker, Durie’s goal-scoring prowess added to Rangers’ attacking threat during the 1990s.

Honourable mentions were also given to the following players: Mark Hateley, Trevor Steven, Gary Stevens, and Lorenzo Amoruso.
