Glasgow Rangers’ teenage sensation Zak Lovelace is in line to get his chance to shine in the upcoming pre-season, according to Glasgow World.
The 17-year-old goal-getter found the net 15 times as Rangers’ B team finished runners-up in the Lowland League.
Lovelace joined the Light Blues from Millwall last summer and initially linked up with the club’s academy.
However, his prolific scoring touch saw him quickly promoted to the first team, making his debut in a League Cup tie against Queen of the South back in August.
The speedy and physical frontman has since featured among the substitutes for the senior side in recent weeks.
With major changes afoot at Ibrox this summer both on and off the pitch, manager Michael Beale is bracing for plenty of arrivals and departures once the season concludes.
It has been an arduous campaign for the Gers, who seem to have a number of players simply not up to wrestling the dominance away from bitter rivals Celtic.
The Hoops have come out on top in various competitions so far, leaving Beale and the Rangers faithful bitterly frustrated.
Zak Lovelace poised to make mark in pre-season
While significant funds are sure to be splashed on fresh faces, Beale won’t neglect prospects like Lovelace.
The youngster could be thrown into the mix for the first team in the remaining matches this season to aid his progression.
Beyond that, next season Lovelace could either continue his development in the Rangers B side or head out on loan. Although the chances of the teen sensation breaking into the senior squad permanently appear slim at this stage.
