Rangers’ injury boost ahead of high-stakes Celtic clash
The high-stakes Scottish Cup semi-final clash with bitter rivals Celtic is looming large for Rangers.
The Gers’ only hope for silverware this season hinges on triumphing at Hampden Park, where they will lock horns with the Hoops in a winner-takes-all Old Firm derby.
Ahead of Saturday’s powder keg encounter, Rangers manager Michael Beale delivered an encouraging injury update on some of his key players.
Beale revealed that centre-back Connor Goldson, winger Ryan Kent and midfielders Scott Wright and Alex Lowry have all returned to training, though he remained coy on their prospects of featuring against Celtic.
“Goldson, Wright, Kent and Lowry all trained. We just need to see how they react now and assess after returning today to training,” said Beale.
"“Centre-back position has been very unstable throughout the season with injuries. Connor is a big character for our team and always nice to have him back. Stability in key positions is key.”"
With Rangers’ season on the line, the news will come as a welcome boost. Goldson and Kent, in particular, have been instrumental figures for the Light Blues, and their availability would hand Beale’s troops a major lift ahead of the high-stakes Hampden showdown.

Victory over Celtic would not only secure Rangers’ place in the Scottish Cup final but also deal a hammer blow to their bitter Glasgow rivals, who are closing in on an unprecedented ‘quadruple treble’.
Beale recognises the magnitude of the upcoming derby and has called on his players to harness the opportunity in front of them.
"“It is a big opportunity as a player, this weekend is a big opportunity to reach a final,” said Beale. “That will to win, that is what you sign up for coming here. We want to go and win the cup. We have to keep moving forward as a club.”"
