The legendary former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has demanded that Ryan Kent features prominently in the upcoming clashes against Aberdeen and Celtic this month.

Even though Kent appears destined to leave Ibrox when his contract expires at the end of the season, Ferguson insists that manager Michael Beale must field his strongest possible team in these crucial fixtures.

While Beale has made no secret of his desire to keep the talented 26-year-old winger at Rangers beyond this campaign, Kent has attracted strong interest from clubs in England such as Burnley and Leeds United.

His future remains uncertain, but for now Ferguson argues that Kent’s presence could be pivotal as Rangers chase silverware.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ferguson stated: “Ryan Kent gives Rangers an extra dimension in attack and makes them a far more dangerous team.

With massive games coming up against Aberdeen and Celtic, Beale simply has to play his best players – and Kent is undoubtedly one of them.”

Ferguson acknowledged that some fans would prefer to see Kent eased out of the team given that he appears set to depart, but he insisted that results must come first.

"“I understand why some supporters want to see players coming through to replace him, but we have to focus on the here and now. Rangers have a much better chance of success with Kent in the team, so he has to play in these huge fixtures.”"

The legendary skipper admitted that while trips to Pittodrie were rarely enjoyable, winning there brought a special satisfaction.

"“Beating Aberdeen at their place always felt extra sweet because of the hostility. The bus journey home was awful if you didn’t get a result!” Ferguson said."

Ferguson’s rallying call highlights the importance of the upcoming fixtures as Rangers chase glory on two fronts.

With Kent’s future uncertain, his genius may prove crucial in delivering victory against familiar foes before the winger potentially bids an emotional farewell.

Beale must unleash his star men in a bid to overcome historic rivals Aberdeen and bitter enemies Celtic.
