Rangers manager speaks with potential summer signings
Rangers manager Michael Beale revealed today that he has spent the last couple of days personally speaking with potential summer signings for the club.
In an interview on talkSPORT radio this morning, Beale said that with Sporting Director Ross Wilson’s recent departure to Nottingham Forest, he has taken on greater responsibility for recruitment in the short term.
This suits him well, as he has been involved in identifying transfer targets with Wilson for months.
“Obviously Ross Wilson moved on last week but a lot of the plans have been in place since I came in November, it’s something we’ve been constantly talking about every day because we were so close at the training ground,” Beale said. “Now Ross has moved on and I’m leading that, I’ve been away speaking to some players in the last couple of days and it’s something that constantly ongoing in the background.”
Beale feels well-supported in this endeavor by other staff members like Head of Scouting John Park and wants to execute plans that have been in progress for some time.
Michael Beale Talks Signings
Known for being meticulous in his approach, Beale prefers to meet players in person whenever possible. “I’m quite fussy, I like to go and meet the players and see them face-to-face, that was how we did it with Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell, it wasn’t just the businessmen.
I’ve been doing that the last few weeks, every day off, every moment in the schedule I’ve been travelling to meet people along with Ross and now I just continue to do that on my own. I’ve got a really clear idea of what I want to do and how I want the team to look,” he added.
Speculation is rife about which players Beale may have spoken with recently. Possibilities include under-contract players with expiring deals like Everton’s Tom Davies, Sheffield United’s Oli McBurnie, or free agents like Angus Gunn, Freddie Woodman or Jose Cifuentes.
Wherever the truth may lie, it seems clear that Beale and Rangers have hit the ground running to prepare for an important summer transfer window. Fans will be keen to see which new faces may arrive at Ibrox in the coming months.
