Brogan Hay, the talismanic Rangers striker, has been awarded the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) Player of the Month award for March.

The Scotland international edged out stiff competition from Lauren Davidson (Glasgow City), Ciara Grant (Heart of Midlothian), and Shen Menglu (Celtic) to claim the honour for a record third time.

The 25-year-old was in scintillating form throughout March, scoring three crucial goals and providing one assist to help steer Rangers to three wins and a draw.

Brogan Hay opened the scoring against bitter rivals Celtic in the first live SWPL match televised on Sky Sports. Although Caitlin Hayes snatched a late equaliser to deny Rangers victory in the Old Firm derby, Hay’s goal highlighted her devastating finishing ability and thirst for the big occasion.

Glasgow City currently lead the SWPL by eight points from Celtic, with reigning champions Rangers a further point adrift in third. However, with Hay in this kind of form, Rangers will be hoping the title race goes down to the wire.

Hay’s award caps a memorable month for Rangers in which the Ibrox outfit reached their first SWPL Cup final in seven years.

The prestigious prize serves as a fitting reward for Hay’s consistently superb performances and underlines her status as one of the country’s leading strikers.

With the season approaching its climax, Rangers will rely heavily on their star forward to drive them to glory.
