Devine has played more games for the senior team than for David McCallum’s youngsters this season, he’s considered a senior player under SFA rules.
Adam Devine won’t be playing in the upcoming Old Firm match this Saturday. Why, you ask? Well, the youngster got sent off during the B team derby against Celtic last weekend, and now he’s out for the big game.
This season, Devine has been playing for the first team, but he was on the pitch for the Lowland league B team when he got booted out of the game. Apparently, he made a reckless tackle on Matthew Anderson, the Celtic skipper, which earned him a red card from referee Greg Soutar.
Now, here’s where things get a bit tricky. Because Devine has played more games for the senior team than for David McCallum’s youngsters this season, he’s considered a senior player under SFA rules. That means he can’t play in the Old Firm match.

With Devine out of the picture, the Rangers team will be relying on their captain, James Tavernier, to lead them to victory. But they’ve got some other absences to worry about too. Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe, Filip Helander, Steven Davis, and Rabbi Matondo won’t be playing, and there are concerns about Nicolas Raskin’s availability as well.
But hey, they’re not out of the game yet. Currently, they’re trailing Celtic by nine points in the Scottish Premiership, so they’ll need to win this match if they want to stay in the race. The good news is that they’ve been doing pretty well on the road lately, with Michael Beale picking up maximum points since taking over during the World Cup break. So, maybe they’ll surprise us all and come out on top.
