The new transfer saga surrounding Rangers FC now involves dynamic winger Ryan Kent.

Steven Gerrard has quite the task list on his desk in his third season in charge of Rangers FC. On one end, Gers are focused on winning their 55th league title this season, which would halt Celtic’s consecutive title celebrations at nine.

On the other end, Rangers’ top players are being linked with moves away from Ibrox. The Alfredo Morelos situation was handled in a diplomatic fashion publicly, but the lid has been raised on that situation as the Colombian international requested to be left out of the squad against Kilmarnock.

At the moment, AC Milan and Marseille are the most recent clubs reportedly in the race for his services. Another player who has been in the media as of late is winger Ryan Kent.

The Englishman is off to a phenomenal start to the 2020 campaign with three goals in the opening five games, and he is in line to have a big season.

The problem, however, is that conflicting reports are being published about his transfer stance and his commitment to Rangers. One report from the Daily Record claims that Kent is happy in Glasgow, whereas a new report from 90min claims that Leeds United is willing to accept a move to Elland Road.

That being said, only Kent knows what is best for his career, and Gerrard is surely being kept in the loop behind-the-scenes, but here is my opinion regarding all this speculation.

Kent is better off at Rangers

Some of you readers might be thinking, “of course you think Kent should stay, you support Rangers,” but let me explain my thought process. There are only two pull factors that Leeds United can use in their attempt to lure Kent in.

Firstly, Leeds United offer Kent an opportunity to elevate his game by showcasing his talent in the most popular league in the world – the English Premier League. Secondly, by joining Leeds United, Kent would be under the wing of one of the most respected managers on the planet, Marcelo Bielsa.

Okay, that sounds great, but let’s not forget that Leeds United is a newly-promoted side that is far from being an established Premier League outfit.

Yes, they have a great tactician calling the shots on the sideline, but the disparity in quality between the top flight and the Championship is like night and day. That being said, Leeds’ primary objective will be to fight for survival.

At Rangers, Kent has earned the honor of being a fan favorite as a result of his brilliant performances and consistency on the pitch.

As the most dynamic player on the pitch for Gers he is now a go-to man on the field as he now orchestrates several attacks and creates meaningful chances regularly.

Playing in the Scottish Premiership may not be as enticing as playing south of the border, but the expectation at Rangers is to compete for silverware.

Moreover, Rangers presents Kent with the chance to play in Europe, which for some players is more important than the league they compete in. The fact that Gers made such a deep run in the Europa League this past season also shines light on the club’s quality and level of ambition.

Overall, Kent would, in my opinion, place a ceiling on his potential to reach new heights, both domestically and at the continental level, if he chooses to leave Rangers for Leeds United.

What are your thoughts regarding this transfer debacle? Would Kent be wise to move to the Premier League, or is he better off in his current role at Rangers? Let us know in the comments section below.
