Villarreal are stepping up their pursuit of Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, with reports in Spain claiming negotiations between the two clubs are progressing.
According to Fichajes, the La Liga side have identified the Belgian international as their priority midfield target this summer and are now working on a proposal worth €20million (£17.3m) plus add-ons.
Raskin has emerged as one of Rangers' standout performers over the past few seasons and enhanced his reputation further with Belgium during the summer.
The 25-year-old played an important role as Belgium reached the World Cup quarter-finals, cementing his status as one of the country's leading midfielders and attracting interest from across Europe.
Other suitors reportedly include English Premier League giants Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Rangers open to Raskin sale
Despite his importance to the squad, Rangers are understood to be open to selling Raskin should a bid meet their valuation.
The midfielder has two years remaining on his contract, leaving this summer as a significant opportunity for Rangers to maximise his transfer value rather than risk entering the final 12 months of his deal next year.
Derek McInnes builds bloated midfield
Derek McInnes has already strengthened the middle of the park following his arrival at Ibrox.
Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have both been recruited as part of the club's summer rebuild in midfield. Rangers are also continuing to monitor Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl despite Cardiff City appearing to lead the race for the Norwegian.

Those additions have given Rangers greater depth in midfield and mean the club would be prepared to sanction Raskin's departure if Villarreal, or any other interested side, matches their asking price.
While no agreement has yet been reached, the latest reports suggest discussions are advancing, with Villarreal keen to conclude a deal before competition intensifies.
Should Raskin leave, it would represent one of the biggest outgoing transfers of Rangers' summer and provide McInnes with significant funds to continue reshaping his squad ahead of the new campaign after a disappointing third-place finish under Danny Rohl last campaign.
