Ex-Ibrox hero Scott Arfield has revealed just how much he would love the chance to pull on the Rangers shirt again, joking that he would make the journey to Aberdeen himself if necessary.
The former Rangers midfielder made the admission during a 5 Stars event at Edmiston House on Saturday night, where he appeared alongside his former Ibrox teammate Steven Davis.
Arfield was asked about the possibility of playing for Rangers again and responded with a memorable line: “I’d put six studs on these trainers and walk to Pittodrie to play for Rangers again.”
The remark drew a strong reaction given Arfield's continued affection for the club and his previous experience of playing in the fixture.
Arfield's Rangers connection
The 37-year-old spent five years at Rangers after joining from Burnley in 2018, making more than 170 appearances and playing a significant role during one of the most important periods in the club's recent history.
He won the Scottish Premiership title under Steven Gerrard in 2020/21 as Rangers completed an unbeaten league campaign, while also lifting the Scottish Cup and reaching the Europa League final while at Ibrox.
Arfield's appearance at Edmiston House came on the eve of Rangers' trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen today, August 30.
The event, organised by 5 Stars, featured a live Q&A with Arfield and Davis alongside Rangers memorabilia, a raffle and auction.
The pair remain popular figures among Rangers supporters, having shared the dressing room during the club's title-winning campaign.
Arfield himself now runs a pub near the stadium, keeping the connection alive between the club and himself.
He left Livingston at the end of last season following their relegation from the Scottish Premiership last season but has yet to find a new club or announce any retirement.
