Rangers legend Richard Gough has sent a message to defender Olwethu Makhanya after his impressive debut Old Firm performance, but warned him that Celtic Park will provide a very different test next weekend.
Makhanya was one of the standout performers as Rangers produced a memorable 3-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox, with the South African defender earning widespread praise for his display.
9-in-a-row skipper Gough was among those impressed, taking to Instagram to respond directly to Makhanya's post following the emphatic victory.

The former Rangers captain described the 22-year-old’s performance as "outstanding” but immediately issued a reminder of what awaits him when the two sides meet again at Celtic Park.
"Well done young man. Outstanding performance. Just remember next Sunday will be a different experience with no Rangers supporters there and [60,000] of their supporters,” wrote Gough.
"Parkhead is where you can be a true Rangers player or not. Difficult place to keep your cool.
"So, my friend I wish you and the team all the very best next Sunday as it will be a very different test for you and the players who haven't played at Celtic Park."
Makhanya dominates Celtic's attack
Makhanya's performance at Ibrox has already made a significant impression.
The youngster, signed this summer from MLS side Philadelphia Union, was part of a Rangers side which dominated Celtic and secured one of the most emphatic Old Firm victories of recent years as Derek McInnes’ side destroyed their rivals to head through to the Premier Sports’ Cup semi-final, where they will meet Aberdeen at Hampden.
The result also means Rangers head into the next meeting with considerable confidence, although Gough's message highlights the unique challenge of playing an Old Firm fixture away from home.
There will be no Rangers support inside Celtic Park next weekend, leaving Makhanya and his teammates to deal with the full force of the home crowd.
Having captained Rangers during his illustrious career, former Scotland international , Gough, played in countless Old Firm fixtures and understands the pressure that comes with representing the club at Celtic Park.
His message to Makhanya is therefore both praise and a warning. The young defender has already passed one major test but now, according to one of Rangers' greatest-ever captains, Celtic Park is where the next one begins.
